Montgomery County Fire Academy
About the Department
The Fire Academy operates with eight full time employees and a cadre of over 150 part-time instructors. The Academy is located in Plymouth Township at 1175 Conshohocken Road, Conshohocken, PA 19428.  The direct phone is 610-278-3500 and Fax 610-278-3499.

Facility Description:
Administration Building/Classroom -  There are 10 classrooms, an auditorium which seats 250,  full kitchen and cafeteria, pump maintenance room, Immersion Lab, equipment and locker rooms, and garages for appartus and hazardous materials response vehicle.
Smoke House - two story structure containing maze for practicing search and rescue skills and SCBA familiarization and practice. 
Drill Tower - a five and four story building used for aerial apparatus and ladder work, simulated high rise training with a standpipe, used also for rope rescue training.
Structural Burn Building  two-story residential burn building,  a two-story commercial burn building, and a four-story high rise burn building for interior firefighting practice.
Drafting Pit - Area used for pump training.
Flammable Gas Pad - Used for flammable gas and fire extinguisher training. Several mock-ups are used for fire extinguishment and flow control.
 
 
Training Statistics:
In 2006, there were 820 classes conducted through the Fire Academy Office with 17,416 students completing 215,930 hours of training.
A total of 431 candidates were certified at the following levels:
  • Firefighter Level I - 94
  • Firefighter Level II - 101
  • Driver Operator (Pumper) - 77
  • Fire Instructor Level I - 38
  • Fire Officer Level I - 49
  • Fire Officer Level II - 18
  • Hazardous Materials Awareness Level - 1
  • Hazardous Materials Operations Level - 17
  • Hazardous Materials Technician Level - 36
